Just some thoughts...

The girls still love running.. they aren't quick to encourage one another without my help. I guess these things are going to take a while to get set in stone.. ahh.

My shins are killing me. No fun running when you feel like your legs are on fire. I think I need new shoes. Uhh.. money ohh money.

More girls are wanting to run.. thats a good thing right. Right now we have 4 girls and 3 love to run. I love seeing their faces when we are done and they know that THEY did it. Sure there were a few emotional crutches along the way but in the end.. they finished.

I might want to get a stop watch. My leader that I have not goofs off too much and ends up with side stiches.. then wants to give it up. I don't want to always hold the time but every now and then is good right?

Also, a good book on the proper runner's stance would be helpful. I want to know how to run so I don't feel so dead when I run.

What an Opportunity!

What an opportunity! I have found a very important piece of myself through taking this job recently: It matters very much, that I am passionate about what I do. Sure, I want to be on time, gain the respect of my colleagues, and even do an honest day’s work. More than all that, I want to love what I do. I want to want to be here. Never do I want to come to work for loyalty alone. I’ve choosen to raise the bar of expectation. Simply put- There are differences to be made here so count me in!

With that said, I’ve started a running initiative here on site. Here’s the plan- Build character, self-confidence, establish leadership and create healthier kids here. Over the next few months I hope to use this blog to consolidate theories over the better ways facilitate this running program. Also this journal should come in handy to help me over time see what works and what is just silly.

In just the last couple of weeks, my heart has been warmed at how many of the girls that never thought they were capable of running are now pushing through. Not only are they pushing though but their confidence is rising… now the girls know that they can do it. Amazing! Moreover, the encouragement that the girls give each other, while running is unheard of in these parts.

Must dry my mop! More to come!!
